Eli is the son of Sam & Chris Berkey. His name is very fitting. In Hebrew Eli is High and David (named for his Uncle Dude) is Beloved. Eli is "highly beloved" already by those around him. He arrived at 6:43 pm weighing 9lbs 5.8 oz and was 22 3/4 inches long. He must have liked where he was since he arrived 6 days late and only with inducement.

Chris was joined by Sam and her sister Sara during the birth. Waiting in the hall were Grandpa Nelson, Grandmas Shirley Berkey & Marcia Nelson and big sister Carly. Shortly after the lullaby played Grand Aunt Julie arrived with her camera.

It was a stormy night and about an hour later we were ushered into an inner hall way due to a tornado warning in the area.

Eli is lucky to have a big sister Carly. Their births are just 18 months apart.

Special Memories

4/17/2009 Playing with Claire

Eli you and Claire were playing on the floor in your room. You were having fun playing with the thing that you move the beads up and down. When I walked my you had a toy hammer in your hand and I watched you hit Claire on the head with it. When she started to fuss you quickly gave her a hug and she stopped crying.
What a good brother.

Playing Down Stairs

You didn't want to come up stairs with the rest of us to watch Dragon Tales so you stayed downstairs by your self. When I came back down to check on you I found you sitting in the portable baby swing just singing and talking to yourself. I was afraid what I would find you getting into but you were being so good.

Getting so big
Eli, you are getting so big. Last week your two bottom teeth poked through. You are crawling everywhere and pulling yourself up on things. Last night you tried to climb onto the little rocking chair. This morning you were standing up in your crib ready to start a new day.
